As curious as I am I want to know more from the history of my oldtimers. When you have a Volkswagen it is easy to find out with the so-called M-plate. You can find these plates behind the driversseat.
What does these plates tell me about mij bussy?

The first line gives the chassisnumber.
--> 32 138 284
This number can be read as follow:
3 - modelyear 1973
2 - is an extra number to make the difference between models of the sixties.
138284 - is the number of that year.
The second line:
507 means that there are ventilationwindows in the cabin-doors.

722 is an unknown code.
The third line:
070751 Is the colourcode; 0707 means colour L20B (leuchtorange) and  51 is the colour of the interior:  darkbeige.
Next some options:
120= means there are no points for the safetybelts in the back.
248=contactslot without lock.
M500 means there is a wall behind the cabine with haf height. Also there is a double passengerschair in the cabin  and the spare-tyre is in the cabin.
506=seperated brake-system with a control-light for the break-fluid.
The fourth line:
07 is the week of production, so week 7 and 3 means day 3, the wednesday.
7341 is an unknown code.
HO is the exportcode and means the Netherlands.
2310 11
2 - means  VW type 2 ("the VW Transporter")
3 - Kombi
1 - steer left, sliding-door at the right.
0 - no further details
1 - 1600cc engine (An AD-engine in 1973)
1 - 4 transmissions

We know something more about our T2.
Build in 1973, so it came out of the factory at wednesday the 14th of february 1973  in the colour  leuchtorange with the options as mentioned.
