At least
After working on the Bedford for more as one year to make it looks better, there was the day.
A few days before I made a test-drive of about 20 km and everything seems to be oke. But the engine was being idle for about 16 years, so to be sure we left very early on 7.15am on monday july 7th 2003 for a holiday of 2 weeks.
Wat a happening when we got the highway with a speed of about 75km/h. I didn't want to drive faster because it was his first great trip.
After a ride of about 70km. we stopped to let the engine cool down for a while. The temperature that day would be over 20gr C., so the engine should work very hard that day. After a break of 20 min we continued the trip.
On the same way we continued the trip: driving 60-70km and cool down for 20-30minutes.Just after midday we arrived in the neighbourhood of our destination. It was too early to arrive on the camping, so we took to a market in the surroundings.
No problems at the whole trip and the Bedford became a compliment for his good job
We stayed on a camping in the southern part of the Netherlands and at some days we made a trip in the neighbourhood. During one of this trips the engine started to work bad. Just back on the camping he stopped and didn't want to start again. After towing it to its place and cleaning some petrol-pipes he ran again.
The next day he stopped again after driving for 4 km. A mechanic of the Wegenwacht (road-assistance) had the same idea as me: the fuell-pump didn't work properly. He fitted a temporarely pump on it and Beddie run again. But...
This pump didn't have enough capacity for our bus as the mechanicer thought. One day later with the help of a camping-guest I bought a pump with a bigger capacity. After fitting this pump the engine started as never before and he didn't stop anymore.
When we went back home we stopped at a scrapyard in Soest, which is in the center of Holland. Not to scrap Beddie, but looking for more parts. And there we found a pair of parcel racks, which have to be fitted above the side windows and an anti-dazzle curtain.
