The 1975 Trabant

When you once have an oldtimer, be care! Before you know there will be a second one and then a third one. When will this stop? My wife is almost getting crazy from all the oldies. In the former DDR (East Germany, the Communistic part of Germany) the people who wanted to buy a car could buy a so-called Trabbi or Trabant. This was a very cheap car, but you had to wait about 13 years when you offered a car. Only the lucky people who worked for the government had to wait about 7 years. So, when "The Wall" was fallen and the people who lived under the pressure of the DDR-regime. these cars were dumped and these people could buy a normal car at last. I was always charmed by the simplicity of these vehicles and on 17 january 2004 I bought my Trabbi. But there is a lot of work to do. It has been idle for 13 years. Here the first pics.
